Sioux Falls service expanding

Allegiant Air will double its service between Las Vegas and Sioux Falls, S.D., beginning in April, the Las Vegas-based airline announced Tuesday.

Allegiant, which has had two nonstop round trips a week between McCarran International Airport and Sioux Falls Regional Airport, will fly the route Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning April 8.

The airline, which specializes in flights linking Las Vegas with small secondary airports in 12 cities, will offer flights leaving Las Vegas at 6:50 a.m., arriving in Sioux Falls at 11:30 a.m., and returning at 12:10 p.m., arriving at McCarran at 1:05 p.m.

Allegiant inaugurated service to the southeastern South Dakota city in May and expanded the service because of high demand. The airline flies a fleet of 10 twin-engine MD-83 and MD-87 jets.
