Scouting Museum to honor Shaw

Southwest Gas Corp. Chief Executive Jeffrey Shaw and his family have been selected to receive the inaugural Lloyd D. George Family Values Award, which will be presented by the Las Vegas International Scouting Museum at a recognition dinner Wednesday at the Bellagio.

The award, named for the longtime U.S. District Court judge, was created to recognize families whose personal ethics are representative of the Scout Oath.

Shaw, named chief executive of Southwest Gas last June, has been active in Scouts since he was 8 and became an Eagle Scout at 15. His wife, Cynthia, served as a Webelos leader and son Michael is a Life Scout.

Proceeds from the event support the ongoing program and plans to construct a permanent, 55,000-square-foot museum in the Las Vegas area.

The dinner begins with registration at 6:30 p.m. call 878-7268.
