Discounter plans to offer Boston nonstop flights

JetBlue Airways will offer a new daily nonstop round-trip flight between Las Vegas and Boston in May.

The New York-based discount flier is adding the flight as part of an expansion at Boston's Logan International Airport.

JetBlue plans daily departures from Boston at 8:30 p.m., arriving at McCarran International Airport at 11:20 p.m., with the return flight leaving Las Vegas at 12:15 a.m., arriving in Boston at 8:25 a.m. Flights begin May 3 and the airline will use 156-passenger Airbus A320 twin-engine jets.

The new routes are being added as part of a fleet expansion by the airline this year.

JetBlue will compete with America West Airlines, which has three daily nonstop round trips to and from Boston, and Delta Air Lines' Song discount subsidiary, which offers five flights a week to and from Boston.
