Joseph V. Behar

Joseph V. Behar, 67, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born June 8, 1937, in New York City. A resident for 31 years, he was a chemist for the federal government.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; and two sons, Victor Behar of Houston and Solomon M. Behar of Los Angeles.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

William Brown

William Brown, 71, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born May 11, 1933, in Baltimore. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired Lone Palm Trailer Park property manager and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Davis, Debra Sutherland and Linda Dimino, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Gilbert Carrasco

Gilbert Carrasco, 72, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Los Angeles. A resident for one year, he was a retired telecommunications switch manager and a veteran of the Navy Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy L.; two daughters, Victoria Goodrich of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Nicole Matthews of Henderson; one son, Scott Blazek of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and three grandsons.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Sandra DeVito

Sandra DeVito, 70, of Henderson died Friday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Marrero and Lisa DeVito, and one son, Kenneth DeVito, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Thomas Pucci of Jupiter, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Wednesday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

George A. Fisher

George A. Fisher, 65, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A retired businessman, professional gambler and a Navy veteran, he was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Hong Kong.

He is survived by his companion, Sandra Green of Las Vegas; two daughters, Georgann Fisher of Lakewood, Colo., and Rachelle Fisher of Richmond, Calif.; one son, Assani Fisher of Nyack, N.Y.; one stepson, Brian Green of Valencia, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Julie Rosenberg of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Betty Hamlin

Betty Hamlin, 82, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. She was born March 15, 1922, in Ludlow, Colo. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; two sons, John Hamlin of Napa, Calif., and Michale Hamlin of Martinez, Calif.; one daughter, Suzzane Correlli of Las Vegas; two brothers, Robert Slane of Shreveport, La., and Bill Slane of Jackson, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Arthur Fredrick Heron III

Arthur Fredrick Heron III, 65, of Las Vegas died Jan. 1 in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Staten Island, N.Y. A resident for two years, he was a journeyman painter and a member of Painters Local 5.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; four sons, Jonathan Heron, Eric Bailey and Dustin Bailey, all of Las Vegas, and Michael Heron of North Hollywood, Calif.; one sister, Claudette LaVerdera of Elmont, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Bessie A. Lakhar

Bessie A. Lakhar, 76, of Pahrump died Thursday in Pahrump. She was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Kansas. A former resident of Las Vegas for 10 years, she was an assistant chef at a local casino.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Card and Barbara Adams; two brothers, Bob and Wayne; four sisters, Shirley, Mae, June and Carol; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Lyle P. Louis

Lyle P. Louis, 88, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Emporia, Kan. A resident for 42 years, he was a retired schoolteacher who taught at Western High School for 17 years and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Candace Louis of Gladstone, Mo.; one son, Fred Louis of Sacramento; one sister, Winifred Louis of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday with a 5 p.m. rosary at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 220 N. 14 St.

William S. Purington

William S. Purington, 80, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 30, 1924, in California. A resident for seven years, he was a general contractor and an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one son, William Eugene Purington; one daughter, Madeline Hopkins; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-noon Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Harlow 'Butch' Ritter

Harlow "Butch" Ritter, 72, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 4, 1932, in Norwood, Minn. A resident for 4 1/2 years, he was a retired owner-operator of a furniture upholstery business and a Korean War Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores; and two brothers, Norm Ritter and Floyd Ritter.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene; two daughters, Terry Triplett of Bowling Green, Ky., and Tammy Sotelo of Las Vegas; three sons, Randy Dodson of Pittsburgh, Larry Ellis of Las Vegas and Danny Ellis of San Diego; one sister, Muriel Rasmussen of St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Earl Dale Salmon

Earl Dale Salmon, 81, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Nevada. He was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Nebraska. A resident for five weeks, he was an auto mechanic, an Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by one daughter, Earlene Guy; one sister, Fern L. Carnes; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Michael B. Sevy (Vella)

Michael B. Sevy (Vella), 46, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 22, 1958, in Henderson. A lifelong resident, he owned AFX Motorsports, was a millwright for a powerplant manufacturer and was an avid race fan.

He is survived by one daughter, Mical-Anne Sevy, and one son, Brandon Blaine Sevy, both of Las Vegas; his parents, Robert and Carol Vella of Las Vegas and William B. and Pat Sevy of St. George, Utah; two sisters, Gayla McDaniel and Gina Flannery, and one brother, Cary Sevy, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Blaine D. and Edyth Sevy of St. George.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Morton Soble

Morton Soble, 86, of Las Vegas died Dec. 29 in Henderson. He was born Aug. 6, 1918, in South Bend, Ind. A resident for 27 years, he was a retail furniture operator and a veteran of the Royal Air Force.

He is survived by one son, Barry Soble of California; one daughter, Sandy Kavalier of Maryland; and five grandchildren.

Nita C. Summers

Nita C. Summers, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born June 17, 1935, in Brookfield, Mo. A resident for 11 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by her companion, Stuart Katz of Las Vegas; four sons, Michael Sterling Summers and Alpheus Marion Summers II, both of Las Vegas, Bruce Wayne Summers of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Phillip Aaron Summers of Jefferson, Texas; one sister, Bobbie Carol McCoy of Hedgesville, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Helen Sweeney

Helen Sweeney, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born May 16, 1918, in New York City. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired executive secretary at a department store.

She is survived by her husband, John Brian; three daughters, Kate Sweeney of Durango, Colo., Kristine Sweeney-Grau of Bethesda, Md., and Helen Mary Sweeney of Santa Ana, Calif.; one son, John Sweeney of Durango; and one grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Barbara E. Waldrop

Barbara E. Waldrop, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Bessemer, Ala. A resident for seven years, she was a retired minister.

She is survived by one son, Dennis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Janet L. Walker

Janet L. Walker, 91, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1913, in England. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan E. Ramey of Las Vegas and Jennifer A. Nicholson of Pompano Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mildred K. Zachary, 88, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 22, 1916, in Kansas. A resident for 14 years, she was a counter person for a dry cleaners.

She is survived by her companion, Carl Campbell; three sons, Gayland Zachary, Douglas Zachary and Ronald Foster; two daughters, Delores Zachary and Lana Smiley; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth J. 'Betty' Zollin

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Zollin, 83, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Mora, N.M. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Fred Zollin, and one grandson, Corey Zollin, both of Las Vegas; one granddaughter, Shannon Severs of Biloxi, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren.
