Spay-neuter program in place

In an effort to reduce unwanted dogs and cats form unexpected litters, Clark County is sponsoring a pet sterilization campaign.

Throughout January, certificates will be available that will allow the public to have pets spayed or neutered at participating veterinary clinics at a significant savings to the owner.

Clark County has partnered with 22 veterinarians to provide sterilization. Low- or no-cost pet sterilization vouchers for any dog or cat and addresses of participating Clark County veterinarians can be obtained at any of these locations.

Home-buying class in Spanish planned

The North Las Vegas Library will team up with Bank of America and Liberty Realty on Jan. 15 to conduct a free seminar intended to teach Spanish-speaking residents how to buy their own home.

The free seminar, presented by Leo Whitney of Bank of America, will include information about how to begin the home-buying process, how much cash is needed and how applicants can qualify for a mortgage.

Free child care is provided at the seminar, scheduled for 9:30 a.m.- 11 a.m. at the North Las Vegas Library Main Branch,2300 Civic Center Drive in North Las Vegas.

Mobile dental plan targets rural kids

In an effort to provide access to dental care for underserved children in rural Nevada, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas, in partnership with Nevada Health Center's Miles for Smiles, is launching a Ronald McDonald Mobile program -- a mobile dental unit that delivers care directly to children in their own neighborhoods.

The vehicle was designed and built specifically for the purpose of providing dental care, and houses two dental hygiene/treatment rooms, a lab with x-ray capabilities, and reception and records area. A variety of services will be offered by the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be fully staffed with dentist, dental hygienists and support staff. Nevada Health Center's Miles for Smiles will facilitate the program, overseeing the scheduling, staffing and maintenance of the vehicle. Miles for Smiles oversees their own mobile dental units here in Las Vegas, and is a reputable Nevada based service provider.

The Growers Study Guild

will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Nevada Garden Club Center, 3333 W. Washington Ave. The Guild is open to all gardening and African violet enthusiasts. Call 878-4797.
