International Game Technology's Canadian distribution network has been acquired by the Reno slot machine manufacturer and will become a new corporate subsidiary.
Hi-Tech Gaming and its 43-person workforce will become IGT-Canada Inc. as a result of the transaction.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Duane Frahm, director of video lottery terminal product sales for IGT, has been named managing director of the subsidiary and will be based in Toronto.
IGT said the Canadian gaming and video lottery market has more than 80,000 machines in operation in provinces across the country.
Hi-Tech Gaming has been the supplier of gaming equipment in Canada and has offices in Moncton, Montreal and Winnipeg. Two Hi-Tech consultants have agreed to work with IGT as consultants.
