Suspect arrested in hot oil assault

Members of the Metro Police Fugitive Detail, armed with a warrant and a Las Vegas address, arrested Myles Gregory Westbrooks of Los Angeles for aggravated assault on Dec. 30.

Westbrooks is suspected of tipping over a 5-gallon pot of hot oil on another man, who was hospitalized for more than a month and may lose a leg, police said. The fight broke out at a fish fry in Los Angeles, where Westbrooks and his family ive.

Metro detectives arrested Westbrooks in the 2000 block of Garnet Gable Street without a struggle, and he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on $1 million bail.

Westbrooks is awaiting extradition to California.

Two arrested in sexual assault

Metro Police arrested two men this morning in connection with the attempted murder and sexual assault of a 60-year-old woman outside her southwest Las Vegas home Dec. 31.

Jermaine Johnson, 20, and Gregory Parks were being held this morning in the Clark County Detention Center.

Police said they believe the victim was followed home and assaulted in her vehicle outside her home near Durango Drive and Warm Springs Road.
