Letter: Bush’s effort to improve security eludes liberals

Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 | 9:08 a.m.

I wrote a letter in praise of President Bush's policies and you published it on Dec. 15. In the letter I criticized points made by letter writer Paul McGuire, whose letter was published Nov. 30. McGuire had said President Bush started an "unust war" in Iraq. On Dec. 23 you published a letter from Will Dull, in which he advised me to re-read McGuire's letter and take each word as the "gospel truth."

Well, I did re-read McGuire's letter, as Mr. Dull advised. I saw no gospel truth in it, however. I have lived long enough to know the real facts, and I have studied the liberal left. I know of what I speak.

I suggest that Mr. Dull read "Reckless Disregard: How Liberal Democrats Undermine Our Military, Endanger our Soldiers, and Jeopardize our National Security," authored by Robert "Buzz" Patterson, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel. The book is available for check-out at the library. Critics of the president should read this book before they accuse him of anything! Then maybe they'd be grateful that President Bush was re-elected.

By the way, I've noticed that members of the liberal left are sore losers. My advice to them: You lost. Get over it.
