Hannan may miss UNLV’s next game

UNLV could be without one of its starters for Wednesday night's final Mountain West Conference basketball tuneup.

Senior swingman Andy Hannan, arguably the team's best all-around player the past two weeks, sat out the Rebels' practice on Monday to rest a nagging groin injury and he could possibly sit out Wednesday night's home game against Fort Lewis College to prevent further injury.

Hannan played 29 minutes in the Rebels' 89-82 loss at 15th-ranked Texas on Sunday night and finished with seven points, five assists and four rebounds before fouling out. He has started the past four games for UNLV and averaged 7.7 points and 2.7 assists while shooting a solid 48.1 percent from the floor. However, it has been his passing and all-around team play that has made him stand out since his insertion into the lineup.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Hannan made a game-winning 3-pointer with four-tenths of a second left in UNLV's 73-72 victory at Cal earlier this year and also connected on a key 3-pointer late in the Rebels' 91-87 overtime win at Auburn.

UNLV opens Mountain West Conference play on Monday night at Utah on ESPN.
