The Nevada Commission on Economic Development this morning released its biennial report, outlining a $3.2 billion economic impact during fiscal years 2003 and 2004.
The report, submitted to the governor and the Nevada Legislature, said 143 companies moved to or expanded to the state during that period, creating 6,752 new jobs.
Other commission activities contributing to the $3.2 billion include work for Nevada companies generated through the commission's Procurement Outreach Program. During the biennium the program awarded 743 prime contracts and 167 subcontracts, the commission said.
Also, the report said that the commission's Community Development Block Grant program awarded 68 grants totaling more than $5.6 million, the Nevada Film Office accommodated 1,218 productions generating $224.3 million in Nevada revenue and the Global Trade and Development assisted in generating more than $15 million in export sales.
