Memorial fund for tsunami victim established

A Las Vegas resident who lost his sister in the tsunami that hit the southern coast of Sri Lanka has set up a memorial fund through Give2Asia.
The money will go directly to the hospitals and orphanages treating child victims of the deadly tsunami, Bruce Anderson said today.
His sister Kristi Anderson, 42, had adopted several children through the Christian Children's Fund in her lifetime, Bruce Anderson said, so the family wanted to earmark the money to help the kids affected in Sri Lanka, India and other parts of the region.
Give2Asia is program of the Asia Foundation, a San Francico-based organization that has supported development in Asia for 50 years, spokesman Eric Schubert said. In addition to meeting immediate relief needs,, the organization is collecting donations for the longterm rebuilding of the affected countries.
Kristi Anderson's trip to Sri Lanka was supposed to be one last adventure before she settled in Las Vegas, her family said last week. She had already bought a townhome next to her brother, a local interior landscaper, in Spanish Hills.
To donate in Kristi's name, visit give2asia.org and click on the donate now button. When making the donation, click on the Kristi Anderson Tsunami Children's Relief Fund.
