Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 | 10:46 a.m.

The American Gaming Association has appointed Dorothy R. Jackson to serve as vice president of government affairs.

Jackson has served as a senior professional adviser to former House Speaker Tom Foley, legislative counsel to Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Donald M. Payne (D-N.J.) and chief of staff for three members of Congress.

"We have worked very closely with Dorothy for four years now as a consultant and she has provided our industry with invaluable guidance on diversity and other issues that are top priorities for the African-American community," AGA President and Chief Executive Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr. said.

Jackson is responsible for the AGA establishing working relationships with the Congressional Black Caucus, NAACP and other minority organizations, Fahrenkopf said. She joins the AGA's in-house lobbying team that includes Fahrenkopf, vice presidents Wally Chalmers and Brett Hale.

Separately, the AGA has appointed Holly Thomsen to replace Naomi Greer as director of communications.

Greer, who served in that position since 1998, is leaving to join the Grocery Manufacturers of America.

Thomsen was previously vice president at TheWadeGroup, a Washington, D.C.-based public relations firm, where she developed strategies to promote the industry's responsible gambling, charitable giving and diversity efforts.
