Harrah’s partners with Singapore developer

Harrah's Entertainment Inc. is partnering with Singapore developers Keppel Land Ltd. to build a casino in Singapore, a city that is considering legalizing casinos to boost tourism and capitalize on the rising popularity of gambling resorts.

Keppel Land is the real estate arm of Keppel Group, one of Singapore's largest multinational companies. The company owns a variety of residential properties and offices across Asia and Australia.

Harrah's and Keppel Land expect to submit a "request for concept" to the Singapore government by a Monday deadline. The companies have not released details of their project or its expected cost other than to say they will be submitting a plan to build a Las Vegas-style casino hotel with nongaming amenities for each of the government's proposed gaming locations: the island of Sentosa and Marina Bayfront, the city's downtown financial district.

Harrah's and its partner would be competing with several other casino interests including MGM Mirage, Wynn Resorts Ltd. and Las Vegas Sands Corp.
