Coronado High School Principal Monte Bay has been named Nevada High School Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Administrators.
The Clark County School District made a clean sweep of this year's awards, with winners in all three categories. Nevada Middle School Principal of the Year is Russ Ramirez of Monaco Middle School. The assistant principal category, which includes middle and high schools, went to Joe King of Monaco Middle School.
Bay, 43, has been with the district for 16 years and opened Coronado High School in 2001. Ramirez, 55 and principal of Monaco for three years, is a 27-year veteran of the district. King, 55, is in his second year as assistant principal at Monaco and has been with the district since 1982.
Also, Clark County Schools Superintendent Carlos Garcia was named the state's Superintendent of the Year by the Nevada Association of School Administrators. Garcia was presented with the award last week during a conference of the American Association of School Administrators in San Antonio.
