Galleria to host reading, fashion
A Girls Just Want to Have Fun fashion show and the Southwest Reading Festival will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the lower level of the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road. The fashion show will be 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the food court.
Saturday and Sunday, Galleria will offer shoppers a birthday bash book of savings for special deals, offers and discounts from participating merchants.
Students from area high schools will perform excerpts from plays or stories during a theatrical competition. The winning high school team will receive a $1,500 grant for that school's theater department. Call 739-9933.
Underground Railroad featured
"All Aboard: Destination Freedom," a Black History Month program with performers and an art/essay contest will be 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in UNLV's Moyer Student Union Ballroom.
Student artists from the Clark County School District will receive awards for their participation in an art/essay contest about the Underground Railroad.
The best artist will be recognized with $100 for first place. Second place will receive $50 and third place $25. Call 440-6067.
Spanish classes set for children
Family to Family Connection Las Vegas West ISD 13 is now offering free classes to families of infants and toddlers in Spanish.
Classes being offered in Spanish include toddler and infant playgroups, Spanish literacy, and behavior topics.

John S. Park-Edison Elementary School
is looking for volunteers to read a short story to the students from 8:30 a.m. to 10 am. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through March 4. Also volunteers should be willing to discuss what they do for a living and why reading is important. Call Alison at 799-7904, Ext. 2146 or 408-2731.
