Letter: Dental school is a valuable asset
Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 | 8:54 a.m.
State Sen. Bob Beers wants to shut down the UNLV Dental School, but why? Does he want to save money and toss out all the new equipment just purchased?
Hundreds of would-be students all over the nation are trying to enroll in that school, as it is now one of the best dental schools in the nation.
Students need patients to practice on and low- and fixed-income families need low-cost dental work. It is a win-win situation.
If Sen. Beers wants to save tax dollars, perhaps we, the taxpayers, could outsource his job to some offshore company for under half of what we pay him now. Just think of all that money the taxpayers would save!
