Letter: War is well worth continuing effort
Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 | 9:10 a.m.
Harry Reid is demanding an exit strategy for our troops from Iraq. OK, how's this: We leave when the job is done and we've won. Boy, that was a tough one, huh?
And for those who think the war in Iraq was wrong, try telling that to the Iraqis who walked for miles and defied death to vote as free people for the first time in their lives.
It still amazes me that so many people believe that al-Qaida could have cells in more than 60 countries, including the United States, yet had no relationship with Saddam Hussein.
As for the weapons of mass destruction, satellite photos show convoys of trucks crossing over into Syria shortly before the war began. It's doubtful they were filled with food and medical supplies.
Finally, not to diminish in any way the sacrifices being made by our troops, but more people are killed on motorcycles every year than the number of brave soldiers who have died freeing two countries from brutal, terrorist dictatorships.
