Entertainment Expo for Kids scheduled
The Entertainment Expo for Kids, a daylong cultural and education event will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the Golden Nugget.
The Expo will feature workshops, demonstrations, and include a trade show for parents and children desiring to learn more about the fine arts and related services including music, dance, art, theater, acting, modeling, magic, singing and support services. The Expo will be free to the public and only a minimal fee for some of the workshops will be charged for materials. Diversity group will hold benefit
The Cultural Diversity Foundation will hold its 10th annual Educational Taste of Excellence: Wine Tasting, Spirits, and Jazz Scholarship Benefit from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Palace Station.
The event will feature a silent auction, art display, and guests will be entertained by the Woody Woods Quartet.
Proceeds will go toward several scholarship awards for students to attend the Community College of Southern Nevada, or an educational institutional of their choice. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $2,500.
Tickets are $30 in advance; $35 at the door. (No one under 21 will be admitted). Call 646-2615.
Ellington's Sacred Concert planned
The Las Vegas Master Singers, under the direction of Jocelyn K. Jensen, will be joined by students at 2 p.m. Sunday at Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave., to perform the Las Vegas premier of Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert.
Proceeds will be designated for the benefit of the Susan L. Johnson Scholarship Fund and the UNLV Jazz Department.
Tickets are $15; special ticket prices are $25; and $50 for Gold Circle patrons. Tickets will be available at the door or can be obtained in advance from Master Singers members, at lvmastersinger@aol.com, or by calling 258-0329.
The American Cancer Society
will begin its Relay For Life at 6 p.m. Friday at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water St. Participants can camp out with friends, family or co-workers walking the track all night to symbolize cancer doesn't sleep and neither will the participants for one night. An infant massage workshop
will be 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Cimarron Rose Community Center, 5591 N. Cimarron Road. Parents will learn relaxation techniques and developmental stretches that aid infant development and forge a special bond between parent and child. Bring two blankets and a pillow. Cost is $40.
