Insta-Move closed down by regulators

Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 | 10:43 a.m.

The Transportation Services Authority, a state agency that regulates household goods movers, has closed down a Las Vegas company that has received dozens of complaints.

Insta-Move must cease operations in the state as a result of the three-member authority's vote last week. The company's owner, Stephen Maresca, also was fined $50,000.

Insta-Move received several complaints through the authority and the Better Business Bureau and was cited eight times by authority officers.

Authority officials said investigations concluded that customers using credit cards received bogus charges on monthly statements and that consumers' claims for damaged property totalling thousands of dollars were ignored.
