Stripers have been caught during the past week from North Saddle Cove to Sand Island by boaters who are fishing with anchovies. Shore anglers have had some success for stripers at the fishing dock and Hemenway Harbor, although the action has been relatively slow.
Stripers weighing well under a pound were caught over the weekend at the tires at Echo Bay and Overton Beach marinas. The fish have been taking cut anchovies at those locations.
Anglers who were fishing for largemouth bass over the weekend in the Overton Arm had some success, although they had to put in quite a bit of effort to catch the fish. Bass were taken at Fish Island and St. Thomas. The water level has risen enough recently to allow boaters to return to the Virgin River area.
NDOW planned to stock rainbow trout today at Hemenway, Horsepower, North Saddle and Pumphouse coves.
