Letter: Trips to Iraq divert attention

Last year the press reports on the torture prisons at Abu Ghraib and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld immediately makes a "surprise visit" to Iraq. Then, last week, the press reports that this administration had scores of warnings about terrorist attacks prior to 9/11 and Rumsfeld makes a "surprise visit" to Iraq.

The only surprise about these visits is that the public is not catching on to the fact that these are just diversions to keep the missteps of the Bush administration off the front pages.
