CCSN hosting art exhibit
The Community College of Southern Nevada Fine Arts Gallery will exhibit the watercolor paintings and black and white photography of artists Alex Hirsch and Dana Fritz Friday through March 18.
There will be an opening reception for the artists from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in CCSN's Fine Arts Gallery, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
The CCSN Fine Arts Gallery is free, open to the public, and is wheelchair accessible. Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Call 651-4205.
Beacon of Truth to be presented
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., will present a proclamation to Ivan J. Houston, recipient of the 2005 Black Military Honors Beacon of Truth Award, 6 p.m. Saturday in Fitzgeralds Ballroom on the 12th floor.
The award will be presented by the Southern Nevada Disenfranchised Veterans Consortium and is designed to recognize the historic achievements and accomplishments of black heroes and their contributions to the history of the United States.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1213
will hold its annual Chili Cook-Out 2 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Eagles building, 1601 E. Charleston Blvd. Everyone is welcome to participate. The entry fee is $10. Call Diane Spence at 657-9665 or e-mail to barkerspence@aol.com for more information.
The Studio All-Blues series
will feature the Julius Funches Blues Band 8 p.m. Saturday at Reed Whipple Cultural Center Studio Theatre, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Funches plays the bass, trumpet, keyboard, drums and also sings. He has played with the Del Vikings and opened for many bands, including the Neville Brothers and Buddy Guy. Tickets are $7. Call 229-6211.

The Clinic on Wheels
(ages birth to 17) will be stationed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Clark Community School, 3074 Arville St., for free medical screenings, immunizations, treatment for minor illness and sports/camp physicals. Call 870-7201 for appointment and availability.
The 31st annual Black History Celebration,
free and open to the public, will be presented 7 p.m. Friday in the Horn Theatre at Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. Call 651-4318.
