Car seat clinics scheduled this week
Safe Kids Clark County is currently conducting child car seat clinics as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
Technicians at the clinics inspect child car safety seats and teach people how to properly use them.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading killer nationwide of children ages 2 to 14, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Children ages 4 to 8 and in a safety seat are 59 percent less likely to be injured in a crash than those using only a safety belt, according to the figures.
Safe Kids clinics are scheduled for:
Today, 4-7 p.m., at Vista Chevrolet, Ann Road and U.S. 95.
Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Pat Clark Pontiac GMC, 2575 E. Sahara Ave.
Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon, at Babies R Us, 510 Stephanie St.
Seniors to get help with tax returns
Volunteers from AARP will help seniors ages 55 and older with income tax preparation and electronic filing at these times and locations:
Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road (by appointment), 229-6454.
Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., East Las Vegas Community/ Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. (by appointment), 229-1511.
Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.-noon, Northwest Senior Center, 6841 W. Lone Mountain Road, 229-4794.
Tuesdays and Fridays, through April 15, 9-11:30 a.m. (by appointment), Derfelt Senior Citizens Center, 3341 W. Washington Ave., 229-6601.
Wednesdays and Fridays, through April 15, 1-3 p.m. (by appointment), Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave., 229-1600.

will perform Indian classical music noon-1 p.m. Friday at the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse, 333 Las Vegas Blvd., South. Bring a sack lunch or enjoy available refreshments.

In recognition of Black History Month,
a free workshop for children ages 6-10 will be 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at Stupak Community Center, 300 W. Boston Ave. Children will make a cultural mosaic and enter it in a contest. Call 229-2488.
Southern Nevada Association of Polio Survivors
invite survivors and their caregivers to attend a support group meeting 1 p.m. Saturday at Joe's Crab Shack, 4250 E. Sunset Road, Henderson. Call 458-1613 or 644-5091.
