More rain records are expected to fall this week

More weather records for rain could be set this week in the Las Vegas Valley on the heels of another record-breaker that fell on Friday, the National Weather Service said.
The next storm is expected to arrive late Tuesday and continue through the week, Weather Service forecasters said.
The entire Southwest is expected to receive rain from moisture flowing from the south, said Jim Harrison, a Weather Service meteorologist.
The total amount of rain that fell Friday was 0.78 of an inch, Harrison said, a quantity that shattered the old record for Feb. 11 of 0.23 of an inch. That record had been held for 46 years, Harrison said.
Since Jan. 1, the valley has recorded 2.91 inches. The normal amount for all of January to mid February is 0.84 of an inch, Harrison said.
