Man barricades himself in apartment

A domestic dispute led to a standoff early this morning that brought a Metro Police SWAT team to a Las Vegas apartment complex, a department spokesman said.
Officers had been trying to remove a man from an apartment in the 900 block of East Twain Avenue near Paradise Road when he barricaded himself inside the apartment, Sgt. Chris Jones, a Metro spokesman, said.
Officers had responded to reports of a loud argument and a man breaking windows. A SWAT team was brought in to help resolve the situation, Jones said.
"We're negotiating and trying to bring it to a peaceful resolution," Jones said.
The standoff began about 5:30 a.m. after a struggle between the residents at the Mark Twain Apartments, Jones said. At least seven other apartments in the three-building complex had been evacuated.
No serious injuries were reported, but Jones said the woman inside appeared to officers who saw her through a window to have been beaten. A third man was also inside the apartment, although the police spokesman said he did not know his relationship to the woman and their alleged captor.
The three individuals' names were not released this morning.
