Letter: Democratic Party out of good ideas

Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 | 9:08 a.m.

Social Security is a typical Democratic program. It looks good on paper, works for a while but is ultimately bankrupt. The Democratic Party is devoid of new ideas and incapable of offering positive suggestions. By all accounts, Social Security will expend more than it takes in by 2018.

If this is such a great deal in its current form, I request that Democrats immediately introduce a bill to scrap their special retirement program and bring themselves under Social Security.

Democrats have become so partisan that they would rather have Social Security fail than work on a solution that could be considered an accomplishment of a Republican administration. If this is a sign of Sen. Harry Reid's representation of Nevada and his leadership skills, we need to plan for a change in 2010.
