Rancho rolls short-handed Desert Pines
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 | 9:27 a.m.
Playing most of the fourth quarter with two key players fouled out, Desert Pines could do nothing to stop Rancho as the Rams rolled to a 73-55 victory Tuesday.
Martez Christian fouled out with seven minutes left in the game. A minute later Jason West also fouled out.
"It was a crucial moment in the game," Desert Pines coach DeShawn Henry said.
When Christian fouled out, Rancho was only up by two points. After he fouled out the Rams went on a six-point run and never looked back.
Christian and West both left the game with 12 points each.
Henry said even though the team is out of the playoffs this year, they will be looking forward to next season when they have four returning players.
The Rams were led by Kaylone Riley, who had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jermaine Fredrick added 16 points and Ariece Perkins had 15 points for the Rams.
Kevin Crockrum had 21 points for the Roadrunners, who end the season Thursday hosting Green Valley. Basic will host Del Sol on Thursday.
Chaparral's Anthony McFarland led the Cowboys with 13 points.
Jordan Stokes led Liberty with 12 points.
