Jorge Luis Castro

Jorge Luis Castro, 9, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 9, 1995, in Pomona, Calif. He was a resident for one year.

He is survived by his parents, Eva and Marino Castro, and two sisters, Lissette Favela and Jakelin Castro, all of North Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel.

Alfredo F. De Castro

Alfredo F. De Castro, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born March 24, 1926, in the Philippines. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired correctional officer.

He is survived by one son, Rolando De Castro, and five daughters, Alma De Castro, Imelda De Castro, Lourdes De Castro, Maria C. De Castro and Maria S. De Castro, all of Las Vegas; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until an 11:30 a.m. service Sunday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Additional visitation will follow. Burial will be 10 a.m. March 27 in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

William J. Horwath

William J. Horwath, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for four years, he was in the maintenance industry, was a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie J.; three daughters, Paula R. Beoletto-Roese of Yorba Linda, Calif., Marsha G. Horwath of Las Vegas and Linda Vera Negoski of Richmond, Ind.; one sister, Betty Hrubis of Joliet; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday in the Nathan Adelson Hospice Chapel, 4141 S. Swenson St. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

John F. Hruska

John F. Hruska, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Minneapolis. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired auditor for an oil company, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Wendy Azevedo of Chico, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson is handling arrangements.

Mary Hubner

Mary Hubner, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 19, 1917, in New York City. A resident for 20 years, she was a head bank teller.

She is survived by one daughter, Cecilia; one brother, Jack; one sister, Elvira; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 913 Ogden St., Las Vegas, NV 89101.

William Marco Lauer

William Marco Lauer, 32, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 28, 1972, in Ohio. A resident for 24 years, he was a tile and carpet setter.

He is survived by his father, Charles Lauer; his mother and stepfather, Pamela and Kenneth O'Rourke; one brother, Charles E. Lauer; and his grandmothers, Mary Blakeley and Genevieve Lauer.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Vivencio H. Magno

Vivencio H. Magno, 86, of Hercules, Calif., died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 18, 1918, in the Philippines. A resident for six months, he was a retired maintenance mechanic for the Postal Service, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Julia dela Pena Magno; six sons, Reynaldo Magno of Daly City, Calif., Robert Magno of Pinole, Calif., Alexander Magno of Fairfield, Calif., Jonathan Magno of Vallejo, Calif., and Benjamin Magno and Daniel Magno, both of Las Vegas; five daughters, Theresita Caponigri of Las Vegas, Susan Lyons of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Jocelyn Antonio of Hercules, Evelyn Alemania of Vallejo and D'Andrea Alvarado of Fairfield; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to a 7:30 p.m. rosary Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Christ the King. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Robert McWhorter

Robert McWhorter, 44, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. He was born May 3, 1960, in Denver. A resident for 18 years, he was a crane operator.

He is survived by two daughters, Shelly A. McWhorter and Mindy M. McWhorter, both of Boulder City; one stepdaughter, Amy Devine of Ames, Iowa; his parents, Jacqueline M. and Howard G. McWhorter, both of Boulder City; two sisters, Kathleen Bruington of Henderson and Sandra Fraser of Boulder City; and one brother, Michael G. McWhorter of Fresno, Calif.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Bessie Jane Reynolds Mendenhall

Bessie Jane Reynolds Mendenhall, 102, of Springville, Utah, died Friday. A resident for 43 years, she was born Sept. 2, 1902, in Springville. She was a member of the National AGC and served in many LDS positions, ward Relief Society president, chairwoman of the "Nevada Mother of the Year" and on the National Committee.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. David Mendenhall of Las Vegas and Dr. John Mendenhall of Payson, Utah; three daughters, Lucille Huntsman of Springville, Nida Childs of Provo, Utah, and Dr. Carma Hales of Salt Lake City; 42 grandchildren; 129 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Springville. Wheeler Mortuary in Springville is handling arrangements.

Floyd Rulon Oviatt

Floyd Rulon Oviatt, 58, of Henderson died Jan. 26 in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Utah. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired janitor.

He is survived by three sons, Christian Oviatt of Henderson and Kevin Oviatt and Craig Oviatt, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Coleen Nash of Henderson; and eight grandchildren.

Ann Rosen

Ann Rosen, 72, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. She was born Feb. 8, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Leo; one son, David Rosen of Northridge, Calif.; two daughters, Laura Rosen of Fremont, Calif., and Julie Rosen of Granada Hills, Calif.; one brother, Hal Golden of Rhode Island; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held in Mission Hills, Calif. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89123, is handled arrangements.

Katie Sicoli

Katie Sicoli, 79, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Manhattan, N.Y. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Laura Dunne, Cathy Pernett and AnnMarie Sicoli, all of Henderson; four sons, Vinny Sicoli Jr. of Henderson, Joseph Sicoli of Las Vegas, Robert Sicoli of Smithtown, N.Y., and Johnny Sicoli of New York; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Gladys Mae Switzer

Gladys Mae Switzer, 90, of Las Vegas died Jan. 26 in a local hospital. She was born May 12, 1914, in Canada. A resident for six years, she was a loan officer and a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Gramms, Carol Distabile and Dorothy Moak; one brother, Harry Griffin; one sister, Dorothy Gourley; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Feb. 21 in Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd. Neptune Society of Las Vegas, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is handling arrangements

Robert F. Vecchio

Robert F. Vecchio, 55, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born March 2, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for five years, he was a retired police officer and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Jacqueline Vecchio of Las Vegas.

Howard R. Whipkey

Howard R. Whipkey, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born April 5, 1938, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired mechanic and a Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Frances of Las Vegas and Tracy of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons, Ray of Evans, La., and Doug of Las Vegas; eight grandchidren; and three great-grandchildren.

Alan Joseph Williams

Alan Joseph WIlliams, 57, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 22, 1947, in England. A resident for seven years, he was an electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Gillian; his parents, Billy and Mary; two brothers, Wyn and Peter; four sisters, Kathleen, Mary, Pat and Evlyn.

Visitation will be 3:30 p.m. until a 4:30 p.m. service Sunday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Peggy L. Wilson

Peggy L. Wilson, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. Born Nov. 16, 1926, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; and two sisters, Linda Dikes and Vivian Pherson.
