Atkinson Gates resting at home

Clark County Commissioner Yvonne Atkinson Gates, who went to University Medical Center in an ambulance after experiencing chest pains during a commission meeting Wednesday, is at home and resting, a county spokeswoman said.

"She says she feels really good and will be back at work by the next regular board meeting," Samantha Charles said.

Charles said it wasn't clear if Atkinson Gates will attend Thursday's meeting of the County Commission, which kicks off the budget workup for the commission and county management. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Feb. 15.

Charles said Atkinson Gates does not want to discuss her medical condition publicly at this time. Gates spent the night in UMC, the county-run hospital that the commission oversees.
