Fee increases for Scotty's Castle
A tour of Scotty's Castle, located in the northern end of Death Valley National Park, will cost an extra $2 beginning Monday.
The price for an underground mysteries tour of the castle's basement and passages will also increase $2, Superintendent James T. Reynolds of the National Park Service said.
The entire fee collected for such tours goes to support interpretive and educational programs at the historic house turned museum.
New fees are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors age 62 and older, $6 for children between 6 years and 15 years, $6 for Golden Access card holders and free for children 5 years old and younger.
Tours at Scotty's Castle are led by park rangers dressed in period costumes who take visitors back in time to the year 1939, when the castle was built by Albert and Bessie Johnson and Death Valley Scotty.
