Slot legislation proposed

Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 | 9:04 a.m.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Kentucky could raise money for pricey government programs such as education and Medicaid by allowing slot machines throughout the state, a House lawmaker proposed Tuesday.

Rep. Tom Burch, D-Louisville, said he planned to file two separate bills that would allow the state to lean on gambling revenue to help ease its budgetary woes.

"The money is there, people are going to gamble ...," Burch said. "Why not keep that money here in Kentucky?"
