PacifiCare awards $40,000 in grants

The PacifiCare Foundation contributed $40,000 to five community-based organizations throughout Las Vegas.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas received a $5,000 grant to support its Street SMART program at six Boys and Girls Club sites in at-risk neighborhoods.

A $7,500 donation was awarded to Clark County Public Education Foundation to recruit and train adult volunteers to share the joy of books with elementary school children.

Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow received a $10,000 grant to support its Self-Sufficiency Empowerment Program for underemployed and unemployed men and women.

A $10,000 donation was awarded to Olive Crest Abused Children's Foundation, and Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada received $7,500.
