Moratorium extended on neighborhood casinos

RENO -- Reno, Sparks and Washoe County officials have agreed to extend a moratorium on neighborhood casinos until after the 2005 legislative session.
During a joint session Monday, officials say they expect state lawmakers to consider controls over casino proposals along state highways during the 2005 legislative session that begins next week.
Reno Councilman Dwight Dortch said regional work on neighborhood casinos should move forward.
"This is a local issue," Dortch said. "I don't think we should be going to the Legislature about our land-use issues."
