Never underestimate the power of the Tiffany & Co. signature blue box -- especially on Valentine's Day. Tiffany & Co. in the Bellagio shopping promenade has gifts in every price range.
And when hip meets the master of silver design with sterling silver pendants that are are cool, casual and affordable, gift shoppers will know they are on the right track.
Both the jeans and mature generations will love a silver pendant inspired by the Tiffany Atlas watch. This peerless style is one of the most recognized Tiffany & Co. symbols.
The pendant is paired with a 20-inch bead chain. A sleek pendant from the 1837 collection mixes trend and tradition. Simple lines highlight the T&Co. 1837 hallmark inscribed on the polished surface.
The hallmark celebrates the year Tiffany was founded and was the beginning of an extraordinary reign for the venerable firm.
This pendant is worn on an 18-inch snake chain and is the perfect counterpoint to sheer lace, cashmere or the ubiquitous T-shirt. There are, of course, more pendant choices. Prices range from $170 to $225.
Pendants are available at all Tiffany & Co. locations worldwide. Visit www.tiffany.com or shop Tiffany & Co. at Bellagio (my choice).
Kid stuff: Kids love Valentine's Day as much as grown-ups do. For a selection of cunning kids' attire and accessories, shop at Along Came a Spider at the District at Green Valley Ranch.
This terrific shop has irresistible gifts and fashions for the younger set. It's great fun shopping here. Also fun, but rather pricey, is Oilily at Mandalay Place at Mandalay Bay. And don't forget FAO Schwarz, which has recovered from its financial problems and is blazing new trails, at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
Check out the new ice cream parlor, Schweetz. It's an ideal spot for an ice cream sundae or a snack.
Celebrate Valentine's Day at a sensuous fashion show: For nearly 60 years Frederick's of Hollywood has been selling sexy scanties to women of all sizes. It was Frederick's of Hollywood that pioneered such items as the push-up bra and thong undies. There are now more than 150 boutique stores nationally, the world-famous catalog and online shopping (www.fredericks.com).
"Fall in Love with Frederick's of Hollywood" fashion shows will take place Feb. 11 through Feb. 13 in the Great Hall at the Fashion Show. Shows on Feb. 11 start at 1:30 p.m. and are repeated every hour on the hour until 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 shows begin at 11:30 a.m. The last one is at 2:30 p.m.; Feb. 13 shows are from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
