JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- At Monday's news conference, Andy Reid was asked about the shiny bauble on his right hand: his ring from Super Bowl XXXI, which he earned while an assistant with the Green Bay Packers.

"It's something that the players can see," he said. "I don't think the players are playing for money. That's not what they're doing. They're playing for the ring. That's an important thing to them."

Reid said that wearing the ring to stress its importance was not something he started this week. "I wear it year-round," he said.

After the Super Bowl, Belichick will be looking for a offensive coordinator to replace Charlie Weis, who was hired last month by Notre Dame.

Belichick is also expected to need a defensive coordinator to take over for Romeo Crennel, the favorite for the Cleveland Browns' coaching job.

When asked about the head-coaching potential of his assistants, Reid praised them all, then said, "I'm not trying to sell off my whole staff here. I feel like I'm at an auction."

Having a brother serving "puts your life into perspective. You value your life a little bit more; you value guys like him and the troops that are over there serving our country," he said. "We couldn't be able to do what we're doing without those guys keeping us free."
