Letter: Housing woes not exclusive to teachers
Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 | 9:03 a.m.
Regarding the Sun's Dec. 17 story about teachers buying houses, "No home sweet home":
The cost of living and housing in Las Vegas has gone up for everyone, and has presented challenges not many of us wanted to face. Along with new teachers, there are many working professionals in every field who cannot afford to buy a house in Las Vegas.
These same people couldn't afford a house in Phoenix, most California cities and many other cities across the country. That the Clark County School District is helping teachers in the home-buying process is commendable, but article after article about teachers and home buying is a nonstory and not unique to their profession.
Buying a home is not a right guaranteed to all in the workforce.
