Letter: Be afraid — be very afraid — of surveillance
Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 | 9 a.m.
So the Bush administration is ordering warrantless secret domestic surveillance, and the oversight is:
1. Bush's oath of office;
2. Every 45 days they talk among themselves to make sure they still think it's OK;
3. They tell some committee members in Congress that they are doing it, but tell them it's secret so even if they think it's abusive they can't talk about it either;
4. They won't tap purely domestic calls, unless they want to.
Nope, nothing at all there to make you nervous. Everyone just relax, everything's fine.
