Letter: Marathon a prime example of teamwork

The New Las Vegas Marathon was wonderful and everyone involved is to be congratulated for an amazing success on the first time out. These days -- as we are seeing an endless series of failures in planning, coordination, necessary skills and effectiveness by government agencies -- it is truly marvelous to see an event come off as well as the New Las Vegas Marathon.

The group that the marathon's organizers put together could teach most bureaucracies valuable lessons. We watched from the 23-mile spot on the course and enjoyed seeing the runners up close as they headed for the home stretch. Thanks to everyone, especially the volunteers.
