Letter: Pakistani people deserve assistance
Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 | 10:30 a.m.
Regarding the editorial on earthquake relief in the Kashmir valley by the Daily Times (Lahore, Pakistan), excerpts of which the Las Vegas Sun published in its Dec. 1 issue:
We can hope that some of our Las Vegas stars will influence their show business friends to host a benefit for the Pakistani people who have suffered tremendous losses. Who would spearhead such a drive?
So many people have lost so much in recent disasters around the world, but it seems that the American public is not responding to, not donating to, any charity concerning the earthquake victims.
Angelina Jolie recently visited the devastated areas and could be very effective in asking our very generous public for help.
These poor people are soon going to be in the midst of a harsh winter.
Can't we help?
