Walt deMattos, NDOW creel census clerk, said boaters have had very good success recently for stripers at Ann Marguret Cove.
Jim Heinrich, NDOW biologist, said this year's spawn of threadfin shad in the Overton Arm more than doubled any previous year. The spawn of shad, which are the primary food source for game fish, was below average in the Boulder Basin.
Boaters who have been fishing in the Boulder Basin have enjoyed some recent success around Boxcar Cove and in the Las Vegas Wash Arm. There have been reports of boaters fishing at depths of around 100 feet to catch stripers.
Willow Beach was scheduled to be stocked today.
A large number of anglers were on hand for last week's opening of Dacey Reservoir and the upper portions of Adams-McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow Reservoirs. Those areas are closed to public access each year from Feb. 15 through Aug. 15 to allow waterfowl and other birds to nest without being disturbed.
Over the weekend, NDOW creel census clerks checked a number of trout that measured 13-14 inches.
