Garden questions to be answered
Acacia Demonstration Gardens, 50 Casa Del Fuego in Henderson, is hosting Meet the Experts from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 24.
The free event offers residents the opportunity to meet and speak with garden experts and have all of their gardening questions answered. It is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
The event also will feature demonstrations, hands-on activities, and projects for young gardeners. Families are encouraged to attend.
The facility features a variety of gardens on display, including a cactus garden, Mediterranean garden, native garden, wildlife-friendly garden small yard gardens and more.

AIDS council to host summit
The Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resource Emergency Planning Council will host the fifth annual Community Empowerment Summit: Does HIV Affect You? at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 J St.
The planning council, service providers and citizens will gather to determine how to best allocate revenue based on community needs in the Las Vegas-eligible metropolitan area.
The CARE Act was named after Ryan White, an Indiana teenager whose struggle with HIV/AIDS and AIDS-related discrimination helped educate the nation.
The Ryan White CARE Act is federal legislation that addresses unmet health needs of Persons Living with HIV disease by funding primary health care and support services.
The summit is free. Interested participants can RSVP by calling 933-9603, Ext. 4.
Henderson District Public Libraries
will be closed on Friday as they prepare for the coming school year. The libraries will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday with all customary library services. Materials normally due Friday will be due Saturday. For more information, visit www.HDPL.org.
