Man shot after fight
A man was shot after getting into an altercation in the parking lot of a Carl's Jr. fast food restaurant this morning on Decatur Boulevard near Lake Mead Boulevard, Metro stated.
The man, whose identity was not available, was found lying next to his vehicle in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his lower back about 5 a.m., said Officer Bill Cassell, Metro spokesman.
The victim was taken to the hospital but Metro was not aware of his condition or which hospital he was taken to, Cassell said.
Witnesses told police that the victim had gotten into a fight with an unknown number of men in the parking lot, Cassell said. Either the victim or someone with him reportedly pulled out a knife or bat, which led to the victim being shot, he said.
Metro had not identified any suspects yet in the shooting, he said.
Dirt bike crash claims teen
A 15-year-old girl on a 2004 Yamaha dirt bike died after a crash with a 1991 Ford pickup truck Tuesday night near North Sixth Street and East Bonanza Road, Metro Police said.
The Clark County Coroner's office identified the victim as Jennifer Serrano. The coroner has not yet ruled on the cause of death.
Serrano was riding the motorcycle in a desert area south of Cactus Avenue and Gillespie Street then entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and failed to yield the right of way to the pickup truck, police said.
Traffic officers are still investigating the 6:55 p.m. crash, although it appears speed and failing to yield the right of way by Serrano contributed to the crash, police said.
The front of the Yamaha struck the left front of the truck, driven by 45-year-old Virginia Edwards of Las Vegas. Serrano was ejected from the dirt bike. She was airlifted to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead by medical staff, police said.
Police seek help locating suspect
The North Las Vegas Police are asking for the public's help in locating George Angelo Rosenthal.
There is a warrant for Rosenthal's arrest for sexual assault with a minor under age 14 and lewdness with a child under the age of 14, police said.
Rosenthal is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds, police said. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on one of his legs of a stallion and a flag.
Police believe that Rosenthal is still in the Las Vegas area and may be driving a 4-door Honda bearing Nevada plate No. 079 SWS.
Anyone with information about Rosenthal's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
