Mike Nixon doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to send Las Vegas to an 8-6 victory against Portland on Sunday at Cashman Field.
Cody Ross led off the inning with a triple off reliever Craig Breslow (0-1). Nixon doubled Ross home, took third on a sacrifice and scored on Jose Flores' sacrifice fly.
Brian Myrow brought in the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. He also launched a two-run homer in the fifth, helping Las Vegas end a five-game losing streak.
Ben Johnson went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Beavers. He blasted a two-run homer in the opening inning off Las Vegas starter Mike Neu to give Portland a 2-0 lead. Jeff Burroughs went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Josh Barfield added two hits and two RBIs. Barfield's solo homer in the fifth made it 5-3.
The 51s were outhit, 12-11, but each member of the starting lineup had at least one hit. Chin-Feng Chen and Delwyn Young both went 2-for-3 with a run scored, with Chen adding an RBI.
Franquelis Osoria pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win, allowing three hits and two walks. Pat Mahomes fanned three in two hitless frames.
