A second person is facing charges in connection with a Thursday morning's Metro Police standoff at an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Vegas Drive at N. Jones Boulevard, police said.
Sonja Jackson, 47, was charged with possession with a stolen vehicle after she and Angel Arroyo, 18, were arrested after the two-hour standoff with police.
Arroyo, Jackson and three others were in a Dodge Durango near Vegas Drive and North Jones Boulevard when a Metro officer observed them, according to Metro.
The officer ran a check on the vehicle and discovered that the license plates had been reported stolen, Metro stated. Metro later established that the vehicle was stolen.
The Dodge drove away and the officer followed it into an alley, Metro stated. All the passengers jumped from Durango and fled to the nearby apartment, Metro stated.
The Metro officer got out off his vehicle and Arroyo allegedly tried to hit him with his Dodge, Metro stated. The officer shot at Arroyo but did not hit him, Metro stated.
