Police seek shooter outside nightclub
Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 | 9:59 a.m.
Metro Police this morning were still searching for whomever fired shots outside the Beach Night Club on Wednesday morning, police said. Two people were wounded.
The shooting in which those people were struck was the second of two early Wednesday at the club, located at 365 Convention Center Drive near E. Desert Inn Road and Paradise Road.
About 4:30 a.m., as the club was closing, a man fired into the crowd that had gathered in the parking lot, hitting one man in the arm and thigh and another man in the lower leg, police said. Both victims were transported to UMC and are recovering.
After the suspect fired into the crowd, he got into the front passenger's seat of a dark-colored, two-door vehicle that witnesses told police was driven by what appeared to be a white woman, police said. The vehicle was last seen headed eastbound on Convention Center Drive.
The gunman was described as a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing an oversized white short-sleeved shirt and dark pants, Metro stated.
The shooting was the second of the night outside the Beach. Earlier, at about 3:30 a.m., a shooting took place in a parking lot north of the club on Convention Center Drive. No one was injured in that shooting and Metro has not detained any suspects in that shooting, Metro stated.
Police responded to the first shooting but made no arrests, said Lt. John Alamshaw of the Violent Crimes detail.
