Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 | 10:55 a.m.

The Nevada Restaurant Association named a new president and chief executive to help lead the group in its efforts to grow its membership.

The group hired Paul Hartgen, former president of the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association; Hartgen began his job Monday. Van Heffner, who also runs the state's lodging association, resigned as executive director of the group earlier this year.

Michael Coward, the association's chairman, said Hartgen will work to increase membership of the organization and enhance the educational programs the group provides. He also will work on improving the organization's lobbying efforts. Hartgen has 20 years of hotel and restaurant industry experience.

The group, which was founded in 1983, has more than 4,500 member companies statewide.
