Letter: Support for troops very real
Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 | 8:59 a.m.
Sandra Baker's Aug. 10 letter is way too far out there to respond to fully, but a few points need to be addressed.
She stated, "It goes without saying that all citizens of this country support our troops ..." That statement is categorically false. Michael Moore, George Soros, MoveOn.org, People for the American Way and other fellow travelers not only do not support our U.S. military, they do not support America!
This is not just my opinion. Go to their Web sites and check it out.
She also stated that "Those yellow ribbons that instruct us to support our troops are irritating to me as an American, especially when they are plastered on a gigantic, gas-guzzling vehicle." That speaks volumes about her support of our military!
She asked what have people who display ribbons really done to support our troops. Well, we have spent hundreds of dollars sending packages and gear to our Marines and soldiers in Iraq, and we have spent a lot of time and money supporting people and organizations that support our military.
May I be so presumptuous as to ask what Baker has done, other than tell our troops to come home and not complete their mission? In other words, lose World War III against terrorism. I do not think our military would appreciate that!
