Creamer, 19, shoots 19-under par

At Karuizawa, Japan, American teenager Paula Creamer shot a 4-under 68 to hold off Ai Miyazato -- Japan's most popular player -- to win the NEC Karuizawa tournament.

Creamer, who turned 19 earlier this month, finished at 19-under 197, three strokes ahead of Miyazato, who shot a 69.

Miyazato, who turned 20 in June, won five titles last year when she made her debut on the Japan tour.

Creamer was making her first appearance in a Japanese LPGA tour event after winning twice on the LPGA tour this year. She became the second-youngest first-time winner in tour history -- and the youngest winner of a full event -- when she captured the Sybase Classic by one stroke in May. She also won the Evian Masters in July.

Overton leads U.S. team to victory

At Wheaton, Ill., Jeff Overton gave the United States its first Walker Cup victory since 1997, beating Nigel Edwards 1-up in the deciding match in the Americans' 12 1/2-11 1/2 triumph over Britain and Ireland at historic Chicago Golf Club.

Overton, the Big Ten champion this year as senior at Indiana, two-putted from 20 feet on the 18th hole to secure the title after Edwards missed a 25-foot birdie try.

Britain and Ireland had won the last three matches in the biennial competition, topping the United States 12 1/2-11 1/2 in 2003 at Ganton Golf Club in England.

Overton, 3-1 in the two-day competition, sealed the victory after Britain halved two matches and won a third at the 18th hole to stay alive.

Russian Open decided by playoff

At Nakhabino, Russia, Mikael Lundberg of Sweden beat England's Andrew Butterfield on the fourth playoff hole to win the Russian Open, his first title.

Both players finished regulation play at 15-under 273 on the 7,154-yard par-72 course at the Le Meridien Moscow Golf and Country Club.

After both players parred the first three extra holes, Lundberg took the title and $83,330 when he made a birdie on No. 17. Butterfield chipped too far from the rough and had to two-putt for par.

Lundberg closed with a final-round 69, while Butterfield shot a 66.

Tambellini wins by one stroke

At Springfield, Mo., Roger Tambellini shot a 7-under 65 in the final round of the Price Cutter Charity Championship to win by one stroke.

Tambellini, who lost to Jason Gore in a playoff last week, two-putted birdie on the 72nd hole to put him at 21-under 267.

David Peoples closed with a 62 to tie for second with Steven Bowditch (64), Vance Veazey (67) and third-round leader Troy Matteson (69).

Pressel loses on third playoff hole

At Pinehurst, N.C., U.S. Women's Amateur champ Morgan Pressel failed to repeat her title in the Women's North & South Amateur, losing in the 36-hole final to Ya-Ni Tseng on the third playoff hole.
