The Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday acquired veteran outfielder Jose Cruz Jr. from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named.

Los Angeles will be the third Major League team for Cruz since July 27. He started the season with Arizona. Cruz, who won a Gold Glove for fielding excellence in 2003, has hit .215 with 12 home runs and 28 runs batted in this season with the Diamondbacks and Red Sox.

In another trade Tuesday, Boston tried to bolster its bullpen by getting Mike Remlinger and cash from the Chicago Cubs for minor league pitcher Olivo Astacio. Remlinger was 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 games with Chicago.
