MGM Mirage workers help out
MGM Mirage employees gave more than $135,000 to three area charities recently as part of an ongoing campaign that has raised $3.2 million this year, officials said.
The donations were: $50,000 for the Meals on Wheels program for senior citizens at Catholic Charities, $65,000 for a bus that offers dental care to children under the Miles for Smiles program and $21,692 for computer and education programs at the Blind Center, according to a news release.
The donations are channeled through the Voice Foundation, a nonprofit organization set up in 2002.
PacifiCare Foundation aids nonprofit groups
The PacifiCare Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., has donated $40,000 to eight organizations in the Las Vegas Valley, officials said.
The organizations include the Blind Center for Nevada, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lied Discovery Children's Museum and the YWCA of Southern Nevada.
The PacifiCare Foundation is devoted to helping charitable and educational causes that enhance the health, wellness and welfare of the local community, officials said. The foundation's funds come from the company, its subsidiaries and its 10,500-plus employees, according to a press release announcing the donation.
